BE THE CHANGE We feel strongly about our social responsibility regarding our environmental footprint; we feel it’s essential to operate the cabin in the most conscious and sustainable way possible. At the cabin, we use only rainwater from our tanks; the cabin is fitted with energy-saving lighting and sensor-enabled air conditioners, and we use organic, eco and animal-friendly, single-use, plastic-free products, and most recently, we’ve offset our carbon footprint (for periods July 21- Oct 22) and partnered with Carbon Neutral, the longest-standing carbon offset provider in Australia, and are now active participants in their Plant-a-Tree program, contributing to the restoration of the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor.

As we do not sell any products ourselves, we don’t have an end-to-end supply chain to manage. However, we choose to work with suppliers that are committed to their sustainability journey and helping Australian consumers buy better.
TRAVEL FOR GOOD 1% for the Planet is a global movement inspiring businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions through annual memberships and everyday actions. We commit to undergoing an annual certification process confirming our gross sales and donating at least 1% of our profits each year to help create positive environmental changes and a better future. We believe it's about businesses and individuals taking responsibility for the environment and conscious consumers choosing to purchase for the planet. In addition to our commitment to 1% for the Planet, we also pledge to donate 50 meals to our friends at Oz Harvest Sunshine Coast for every booking we take, and to date, we have contributed to over 1600 meals on behalf of our guests. We remain accountable by emailing each guest a receipt of the payment made on their behalf following their stay. So, when booking your hideaway at Scandi at Maleny, you're not only doing yourself some good but also doing good for others.
All adults are welcome to stay at the cabin; we are looking at ways to further welcome less abled bodies to the cabin in 2023.
Whilst our model isn’t inherently circular, we embrace the circular economy by supporting businesses that are pioneering the circular space.
SUSTAINABLE ACCOMMODATION MALENY As a prefab, modular cabin, sustainability is inherent in its design, so it only makes sense to have a conscious approach to its operation and will continue to seek and improve where possible. We remain committed to our sustainability journey, so you can be sure of the following when escaping to Scandi at Maleny: • We power the cabin using green energy (rated 4.5/5 by Greenpeace). • Our linens are washed with commercial-grade Eco-friendly products from single-use plastic-free bottles and lined-dried instead of machined-dried. • Our green cleaning products are organic, non-toxic, sustainable and eco-friendly, minimising the waste impact on the environment. • Our greywater passes through an STP system and is then used to irrigate the gardens at the property. • We have installed a dish draw style dishwasher to help with reducing the water consumption needed when cleaning dishes. • We operate 99.9% digitally, reducing the need for single-use printed material in the cabin. We need to consider whom we spend our money with and what they’re doing to help the world; we need to demand more from brands and businesses, big or small.
